2016 Winter Program

Classes Offered:

  • INTRO TO MUSIC PreK-K
    • Students 3 years to Kindergarten will explore music in a fun and interactive way.
    • Note: Students must be 3 years old at the start of class.
  • MOZART MUSIC MAKERS (1 to 6 Grade)
    • The Kodály approach to music education is child centered and taught in a logical, sequential manner, using folksongs to introduce music concepts and vocal training.
    • Grades 1-3 Class
    • Grades 4-6 Class
  • BEL CANTO SINGERS (7 to 12 Grade)
    • Voice in a choral setting. Combined Middle and High School music and choir class. Students will learn a varied repertoire of songs, learn to compose short melodies and lyrics, to sight-read short scales of music, and more
  • CONCERT BAND (5th to 12th Grade)
    • Instruments include:
      • Band - flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tuba, French horn and percussion.
    • Equipment Needed: students provide their own instrument, portable music stand and any items needed in the maintenance of the instrument.












  • STRING ORCHESTRA (4th to 12th Grade)
    • Instruments include:
      • Violin, Viola, Cello and String Bass.
    • Equipment Needed: students provide their own instrument, portable music stand and any items needed in the maintenance of the instrument.
  • GUITAR ENSEMBLE 
    • Beginning (Grade 2+)This beginning guitar ensemble course is designed for students with no previous guitar experience. Students will receive guidance and direction in learning different strumming styles, skills, picking, and the necessary techniques to become a successful guitarist. We will be concentrating on areas such as proper posture, knowing the parts of a guitar, note reading, alternate picking, chord study, and performance.
    • Intermediate (by audition)This class will begin where the beginning guitar ensemble left off. Students are required to know basic note reading, can recognize most basic chords, and are also comfortable with strumming. This class is an opportunity for the students to increase their guitar playing ability and enjoyment. A greater number of guitar chords and techniques will be learned as well as further knowledge in music theory.
    • Equipment Needed: students provide their own instrument, portable music stand and any items needed in the maintenance of the instrument.
  • CHILDREN'S HANDBELL CHOIR
    • For students with little or no previous handbell experience. Instruction includes basic ringing techniques, positioning of bells and ringers, beginning repertoire, and performance.  
  • DRUM CLASSPIANO LESSONS
    • Students will discover the joy of creating music, learn rhythm skills, percussion vocabulary and techniques. Class activities engage students as they explore different timbres and search for the next great sound. Students will also prepare piece for the Winter and Spring Concerts.
